Coaches preparing for the European Championship almost unanimously consider Spain and Germany as favorites.
Journalists took the opportunity to interview the strategists of all 16 participants who gathered in Poland to discuss the upcoming tournament.
"I think everyone knows who the favorites are. It will be Germany and Spain," said Franciszek Smuda, leading the Polish national team. Laurent Blanc, standing at the helm of the French team, agreed with him.
Meanwhile, Joachim Low, coaching the German national team, said: "In any championship, we have to talk about Spain. Other countries have to try to overthrow the Spaniards from the throne. Our minimum goal is to advance to the knockout stages, and then we will see."
"There is a very strong and famous team - Spain, but next to them - England, Netherlands, Germany. Let's not forget that Greece won the 2004 championship. So in football, anything is possible. Every country and every coach can dream," said Giovanni Trappatoni, the coach of the Irish national team.
Meanwhile, working in Croatia, Slaven Bilic added: "In my opinion, apart from Spain, there are Germany, Netherlands, and other countries with deep traditions like England or Italy. We also hope that with a little luck we will perform really well."
