Rafael Benitez openly offers himself to become the new coach of London, but the fans of the English club do not want the Spaniard.
During an interview with BBC, the specialist emphasized that he has successful experience in the Champions League tournament, which the owner of the 'Blues' Roman Abramovich has been eager to win for several years. So far, this has not been achieved by strategists such as Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, and others.
"What is the goal of the Chelsea team? To become European champions. So if they need guarantees of victories, especially in the Champions League, I think my candidacy should please," Benitez said.
During his career, Benitez triumphed in the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, and reached the final a couple of seasons later. Additionally, earlier with Valencia he won the UEFA Cup. Although the Chelsea fans chanted a few days ago that they do not want to see Benitez instead of the dismissed Andre Villas Boas, the strategist himself is not afraid.
"When I became the coach of Valencia, the team had played in the Champions League final, and I broke into the highest league with Tenerife. The fans said that I was young, so they looked at me suspiciously. After two Spanish champion titles and a UEFA Cup, they adored me," he said.
"The fans want to see a winning team, and I have been able to do that with more than one club. For now, I don't have any offers, so after leaving Milan's Inter, I analyze football and wait for a favorable opportunity."
