UEFA Cup matches took place on Thursday with five round of 16 games, in which four teams maintained their advantage, playing the second leg at home - the only surprise was the "Austria" club.

One "Austria" team had a tough task after a draw at home in the second leg against "Zaragoza", but the visitors took the lead after just 12 minutes with a score of 0-2. Although the Austrians lost their goalkeeper to a red card and later conceded two goals, they had enough away goals and made it to the next round.

Moscow's "CSKA" with Deivid Šembera also advanced to the quarter-finals, defeating Belgrade's "Partizan" convincingly at home. Goals from two Brazilians D.Carvalho and V.Love secured the victory for the "army team", while the Lithuanian who played the entire match even saved his team from a goal just before halftime, helping his team defend against Oditos.

Lisbon's club "Sporting" continues on the road to the final, eliminating English "Middlesbrough". The Portuguese team had already brought a victory from England, and although they didn't need a win this time, they snatched it in the last minute of the match through P.Barbosa.

One of the most intense quarter-final matches was the meeting between "Parma" and "Sevilla". After a goalless first leg in Spain, "Parma" won thanks to a single goal from G.Cardone. Meanwhile, one away goal was enough for the "Auxerre" team to win, as they played a draw at home with the "Lille" team.

Although the postponed match between "Steaua" and "Villarreal" will have to settle their scores on Sunday, the UEFA Cup draw will take place today, Friday.
