Over the weekend, five matches of the second round of the Lithuanian Championship were played.
On Saturday, all the favorites were successful: Vilnius "Žalgiris" and Marijampolė "Sūduva" achieved overwhelming victories, while the defending champions Panevėžys "Ekranas" barely defeated Vilnius REO.
In their home field, Žalgiris crushed the struggling Klaipėda "Atlantas" with a score of 7-0. Newcomer Calum Elliot scored four goals - a "poker" - for the capital club.
In other matches, "Sūduva" did not rest on their laurels after the victory over "Ekranas" and beat Tauragės "Tauras" 4-1. Meanwhile, the past season champions secured a 1-0 victory over REO with a penalty kick realized in the last minutes.
