The sports media of Spain announced new information about Barcelona's interest and alleged already completed deals with Valencia's defender Jordi Alba.

According to some sources, the Catalan club has already reached a verbal agreement with the 22-year-old footballer and finished confidential negotiations with Valencia's team leaders.

It was already reported last summer that J. Alba was on Barcelona's radar. At that time, this player was mentioned as one of the candidates to join Josep Guardiola's team, as Barcelona failed to reach an agreement with Chichon's "Sporting" for the acquisition of defender Jose Angel.

The name of the former player of the Catalonia club's academy was again loudly mentioned in the media reports in winter, when the Spanish champions sold Brazilian defender Maxwell to the "Paris Saint Germain" club for 4 million euros.

Rapidly progressing J. Alba played in various age "Barcelona" youth academy teams in his childhood, later moved to Valencia, and in the fall of 2009 made his debut for the main "bat" team.

The Valencia region newspaper "Superdeporte" reported in January of this year that Josep Guardiola's agent Jose Maria Orobitgas met with the player's representative and allegedly discussed the further prospects of the player's career at that time.

J. Alba has a contract with Valencia valid until the summer of 2013, but delays signing a new contract. The player's buyout clause is 20 million euros, and any club willing to pay this amount and obtaining the Catalan's consent can purchase the player without direct negotiations with Valencia.

However, according to "Sport.es," the Catalan club will pay 15 million euros for the defender, and J. Alba should earn around 3 million euros per season at Barça. It is said that an agreement between the clubs has already been reached, but it will not be officially confirmed until the end of the season.
