eing a fan is sometimes very dangerous. Nine-year-old Jamie Thomas could confirm this for the first time in his life when he attended an away match of his favorite team against "Wolverhampton".

The boy watched as his idols warmed up before the match. However, one of Wayne Rooney's shots was inaccurate and flew straight into Thomas's face in the stands. He managed to cover his face with his hand, but as a result, his wrist was broken.

"Everything happened very quickly. One moment I was watching Wayne shoot, and the next moment the ball was flying towards me. I managed to lift my hands and felt the pain, but I thought it was just a shot from Rooney... I thought everything was fine, but the pain kept getting worse," Thomas said. "I missed most of the second half, but it was worth it. It's amazing that it was Rooney who broke my wrist. All my friends at school wanted to sign on the cast."

Roney apologized for the incident and sent Thomas signed shirts as a gesture of goodwill.
