Coach Roberto Mancini directly stated that he does not trust forward Mario Balotelli.
Over the weekend, photos appeared allegedly capturing a conflict between the coach and the footballer during training. Mancini did not make a big deal out of this fact.
"No, I don't trust Mario. Nobody trusts him," Mancini told the BBC. "He is a top-level player who can do anything on the field. Balotelli could score two goals against Arsenal in London next week. But it is also likely that he will get a red card."
He added: "So far, he is doing well, so his contribution will be important in the remaining eight matches. But trust? No."
Balotelli constantly gets involved in strange situations. Last week, he abruptly left an Inter Milan press conference and decided to greet the new coach of the Italian national team, Andrea Stramaccioni.
"At the press conference, he behaved like a journalist. Why? Ask him, he had two days off as a footballer," Mancini said. "I can't lock him up at home. Perhaps there will come a time when Balotelli will understand what he should do in his free time. I hope to see maturity and an understanding of what work means. He needs to work and rest."
In the English Premier League, Manchester City is three points behind the leader, Manchester United.
