Strategist Roberto Mancini insists that the team needs to strengthen its composition if they want to successfully compete for the English champions title.
Two years ago, the Italian started working, spending over 240 million euros on new players, but believes that a lack of depth in the squad is hindering their ability to challenge the current leaders "Man Utd" by five points in the league standings.
"Kolo and Yaya Toure went to the African Cup of Nations, for a while we had to manage without injured Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott and Sergio Aguero," complained Mancini. "Maybe next year, if we lose two important players, we will have two others to replace them.
"I think three or four psychologically strong players would help complete the team's formation. Perhaps we need time - we already have one of the strongest teams in Europe."
He continued: "The difference compared to 'Man Utd' is in the overall composition, not just the starting eleven. This club is used to leading and winning trophies, so they don't feel the pressure. Competing with 'Man Utd' is the crucial difference, not the players."
