Roberto Mancini's patience has run out - the strategist confirmed that controversial striker Mario Balotelli will no longer appear on the field this season.
The Italian, who has scored nineteen goals this season, is constantly involved in various scandals both on and off the field. In Sunday's match against London's Arsenal, the striker grossly violated against Alex Song, and although the referee did not notice this episode, he was eventually sent off the field for two yellow cards.
Asked if Balotelli could be sold this summer, Mancini replied: "Most likely. But you should be happy if he stays, because stories about this player fill one, two or three newspaper pages."
And he continued: "He must change his behavior if he wants to continue his career successfully. I like Mario as a person and as a footballer, but this behavior is unacceptable. For the action against Song, he definitely deserved suspension. I've seen players who have wasted their talent and become nothing in three years. For now, everything is over with him. We have six games left, and Balotelli will not play in them."
It is likely that the Italian could be suspended for the remaining matches, as a third red card of the season means a three-game suspension, and the action against Song could also lead to sanctions.
