Representing the Lithuanian national football team at the age of 15 and playing 84 matches, Andrius Skerla became a member of the Vilnius city football club "Žalgiris".
The defender, who will soon celebrate his 35th birthday, returns to "Žalgiris" after a 16-year break. It was in this club that the player who played the most matches in the Lithuanian national football team started his career.
Debuting for "Žalgiris" in 1996, Skerla scored 2 goals for the team and helped win the Lithuanian Cup. In the same year, he was called up to the National men's team. After a successful season at "Žalgiris" in 1997, he moved to the PSV club in Eindhoven, with which he became the champion of the highest Dutch league "Eredivisie" in 1999.
In 2000, he moved to Scotland and represented the Dunfermline Athletic team for 5 seasons. During this time, the defender played 169 matches and scored 2 goals. In 2005, his football career took him to Russia's Tomsk "Tomʹ" team. He did not stay there long, returning to Lithuania in 2007 to defend the honor of Vilnius' "Vėtra".
After a year spent in Lithuania, Skerla spread his wings to the Polish team Korona Kielce, where he also spent only one season. In 2008, the footballer moved to another Polish club - Jagiellonia Białystok. In this team, the experienced player played until 2011 and during this time scored 6 goals. Skerla ended his career in the Lithuanian national team in the autumn of 2011, leaving a bright mark in its history.
