Michael Essien is convinced that in the Champions League semi-finals in London, the club can beat Barcelona. Although the Spaniards are considered clear favorites in this tie, the leader of the Ghana national team has a different opinion.
"Over the past eight years, we have played against this team and I can say that they can definitely be beaten," Essien said. "I feel that the time has come to defeat Barcelona team."
Essien recalled the year 2009, when Barcelona's victory over Chelsea in the semi-finals was decided by Andres Iniesta's goal in the 92nd minute of the second leg.
"The last time was full of drama and great football," he said. "Those matches had everything, and we were just missing a small step."
The first leg of the semi-final will take place on April 18th in London, with the second leg scheduled for April 24th in Barcelona.
