The famous French footballer Nicolas Anelka somewhat unexpectedly became one of the coaches of the Shanghai Shenhua club. However, the player is not planning to hang up his boots just yet and will continue to defend the team's colors on the field.
This decision by the Chinese club leaders was influenced by the poor results of the team - in the new season, Shenhua has only secured one victory in five matches and currently occupies the 11th place in the championship.
"We have decided to raise the level of the training process and will replace some of Jean Tigana's assistants. Team captain N. Anelka will also take part in the preparation process for the players," the team announces.
The 33-year-old Frenchman has scored 2 goals for the Shenhua team.
