Vaidas Šilėnas, who has been representing the Vilnius city football club "Žalgiris" since 2011, has extended his contract.
Quickly becoming one of the key players in the ranks of the green-and-whites, the goalkeeper did not hesitate to continue defending the honor of the club.
"The club presented me with a good offer, so I had no reason not to extend the contract. I really like the organization of "Žalgiris" and the players competing in the team. I am glad that I also fit the club and can be useful," says the 26-year-old footballer. - "If you want to achieve higher results, you must first take care of the interests of the team. I always try to do that, because the better your team does, the more prospects you have in the future. It is most important to me that the aspirations of the "Žalgiris" club are very high, because we can achieve everything else through hard work."
VMFD "Žalgiris" sports director is satisfied with V. Šilėnas' solid performance. "Vaidas is an excellent, rapidly progressing footballer. He quickly adapted to our team and became a very important part of it. V. Šilėnas started his professional career in 2003 at the Kelme's "Kražantė" club. The goalkeeper represented this team for just over a year and scored 4 goals. He later moved to the "Šiauliai" football club, where he played in the 2006-2010 seasons. During this time, the player played 116 official matches, scored 15 goals, and made 6 assists. In the 2011 season, V. Šilėnas became a member of the VMFD "Žalgiris" team. In his debut season, he played 26 matches (24 in the starting lineup) and scored one goal. Since 2011, he has been constantly called up to the Lithuanian "B" national team. In the 2012 season, the footballer also started very successfully. In 6 official matches, he scored 1 goal and made 1 assist.
