Yesterday, in the postponed UEFA Cup eighth final match between "Villarreal" and Bucharest's "Steaua", the Spanish club emerged victorious and became the last participant in the tournament quarterfinals.

Although the result may not reflect it, there was a fierce battle on the field and the Romanians had the first opportunity to score. However, in the 5th minute, "Villarreal" took the lead - after Juan Romano Riquelme lifted the corner kick into the goal, Jose Mari sent the ball into the net with his head.

The match continued fiercely, as the visitors only needed a draw to advance, since the first match in Bucharest ended in a goalless draw. Nevertheless, in the second half, a penalty was awarded after a player from the Spanish U-21 national team, Santiago Cazorla, made an appearance as a substitute. The opportunity was successfully converted by Riquelme, who impressively performed in the match.

It was already determined in the draw that the winner of this tie will play against "AZ Alkmaar" from the Netherlands. The first match will take place on April 7th in Villarreal, with the return leg scheduled after a week in Alkmaar.
