"Žalgiris" coach: difficult to play against a team whose all football players defend their own half © EuroFootball.com

After the victory against Tauragė's "Tauras", the head coach of the Žalgiris team, Damiras Petravičius, was satisfied with the team's attitude.

The Vilnius City Football Society "Žalgiris" team defeated Tauragė's "Tauras" 2:0 (1:0) at their home stadium, securing their fifth victory in the "General Financing A League" championship.

The Žalgiris team took control of the game from the beginning and scored a goal in the 10th minute with a powerful shot from Egidijus Vaitkūnas. In the 85th minute, Luka Peričius scored the second goal with a precise shot, sealing the important victory.

The head coach of VMFD "Žalgiris", Damiras Petravičius, was pleased with the attitude of his players for this match. "I told my players before the game to be focused 100%, because there are no weak opponents in the A League. The slightest relaxation can cost us the victory. I am pleased that our team's footballers understood this and got involved in the game from the beginning. It is always difficult to play against a team whose players all defend in their own half. We managed to control the ball well and successfully make passes from one side of the field to the other. This helped us to lure the opponents out of their penalty area and score 2 goals," Petravičius said.

Tauragė's "Tauras" coach Darius Gvildys acknowledged the advantage of the Žalgiris team.

"The team that demonstrated better and faster football won. It was hard for our team to play, there were many things we couldn't do. Žalgiris is a well-balanced team, so their good game did not surprise us," said Gvildys.

The author of the second goal, Luka Peričius, also noted the active defense of the opponents. "We dominated the game throughout today. It was not easy to do, as 10 opponents actively defended in their own half. We tried not to get disrupted and play our game. We managed to do that, so we scored 2 beautiful goals. It's nice that I was able to score as well. I am a defender, so I don't often get to celebrate scoring a goal," said the Croatian who scored the first goal this season.

Former Žalgiris player Tomas Sirevičius, representing Tauragė's "Tauras", said that his team had no chance to resist more seriously today. "The game was very tough. Žalgiris did whatever they wanted on the field today. They exploited set pieces perfectly, and almost made us chase the ball the whole game. It felt like we were playing against a much stronger opponent than last week. The spectators and even themselves could see that," said the defender of the "Tauras" team.
