London security Jack Wilshere will not be able to help the England national team in the upcoming European Championship this summer.
The 20-year-old footballer suffered a shin injury before the season, but hoped to recover in time for the continental tournament starting in June in Poland and Ukraine.
"I am very disappointed," said 20-year-old Wilshere. "This is a huge psychological challenge that I will have to endure until I return to the field. I hope that the national team will return from the European Championship with trophies."
Last season, Wilshere played 49 matches for Arsenal.
