Munich's "Bayern" took a small step towards the UEFA Champions League final. In the first leg of the semifinal match, the German team defeated Madrid's "Real" 2-1 after a tough battle, gaining a slight advantage before the return leg in the Spanish capital.
Hosts were particularly active in the first half of the match and took the lead in the 17th minute when Franck Ribery directed a corner kick into the net from 11 meters, but Mesut Ozil restored the balance right after the halftime break.
Although goalkeeper Manuel Neuer initially deflected Cristiano Ronaldo's shot in that episode, "Real" successfully continued their attack and, after the same Portuguese player deflected the ball to Ozil, the German player redirected it into the goal from close range.
Later, the Madrid team took defensive positions, which they successfully maintained until the very last minute of regular time when defender Philipp Lahm broke through on the right side and crossed the ball into the penalty area, where Mario Gomez defeated Iker Casillas with his knee.
It was already the 12th goal for the striker in this Champions League season.
