After the first Champions League semi-final match in Munich, coach Jupp Heynckes enjoyed the hunger for victories of his players, while Madrid's "Real" led by Jose Mourinho was not very disappointed with the result.
At the last minute of extra time, Mario Gomez's goal allowed "Bayern" to celebrate a narrow victory of 2-1.
Heynckes said after the match: "When the score was 1-1, there is always a risk of conceding another goal and losing while trying to win. So we hoped for at least a draw or an even better result. In the end, I think we deserved this victory.
“The players did what I asked of them the night before. We showed passion, desire, and hunger for victory - things that are necessary in the Champions League semi-final. "Real" is a classic team, so I'm very happy with the game."
About the second leg, he added: "We will need to score goals, not park the bus in front of the goal and fend off "Real" attacks."
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho told reporters: "This is our first failure in this Champions League season, but it doesn't leave me with negative emotions. We lost a good away game, which we could call a typical Champions League semi-final. We didn't deserve to lose, but it happened."
And he continued: "In the return leg in Madrid, we don't need a historic comeback - the task is definitely achievable. It's hard to expect a ticket to the final with just one result. At home, a 1-0, 2-0, 3-1 will be enough for us, so I'm optimistic.
"At the end of the second half, both teams were tired and made a lot of mistakes. It looked like the match would end in a draw, but it didn't happen. It's already April, we have had several tough games that we had to win. Naturally, some players are not in their best physical condition. But we will be well prepared to achieve a favorable result at home. In our roles, just like in Munich, the enthusiasts will play a crucial part."
