"A derby is always a derby - no matter what position the teams from the same city hold in the tournament table. During the derby, there is a fierce battle. And we are ready for it," said "REO" head coach Stasys Baranauskas.
According to the coach, initially, the match was planned to be held at the legendary Vilnius "Žalgiris" stadium, but after the winter and harsh weather, the pitch has not yet recovered. In addition, the weather forecast for the whole week predicted rain on Saturday. Therefore, in order for as many Vilnius residents as possible to see the match, it was decided to hold it at the arena.
"I do not think that opponents who play on a turf pitch will suffer from that. So both teams will be able to show what they are worth competing against each other," said S. Baranauskas.
The coach is confident that the match will be interesting and intense.
"No matter who wins - Vilnius football will be the winner. Both teams are trying to promote this great sport in the capital," said S. Baranauskas, who played for the legendary Vilnius "Žalgiris".
The Vilnius city derby at the "Sportimos" arena will start on Saturday at 5 p.m.
