Strategist Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that next week he faces the most important Manchester derby of his entire career.
On Sunday in the English Premier League, 'The Red Devils' squandered a two-goal advantage and played a 4-4 draw with Liverpool's Everton, while "Man City" won 2-0 against Wolverhampton.
These results mean that the clash between these teams at the Etihad Stadium on April 30 could determine the reshuffling of the league table - a win for Man City at home would allow them to level on points and rise to the top due to a better goal difference.
Ferguson spoke about the upcoming challenge: "We need to achieve a positive result, we can't talk about any other options. It's probably the most important Manchester derby of my entire career. We cannot afford to miss any silly goals.
"There's no reason why we shouldn't succeed. Man City expects a lot, but our expectations that this could be a decisive result are no less."
The Scotsman was disappointed with his proteges, who led 3-1 and 4-2 but failed to secure the win.
"We handed the opponents a point on a silver platter, when all we had to do was wait for the final whistle. It's a shame, because at times we showed excellent football and scored beautiful goals. Now Man City undoubtedly has the initiative, so everything will be decided in the showdown. We complicated our own situation," he said.
