G. Pique: "I can put my hand in the fire for J. Guardiola" © EuroFootball.com

Spanish sports journalists, who have recently been delving into the possible conflict between Gerard Pique and Josep Guardiola, will have to look for another topic for their publications.

At a press conference held on Monday, the "Barcelona" defender once again assured that there is no bad blood between him and the coach, and he referred to their relationship as "fantastic".

The 25-year-old G. Pique, who has played little in recent matches, did not even rise from the substitute's bench during the Saturday match at Camp Nou stadium against Real Madrid. This further fueled rumors that one of the key "Barcelona" players does not see eye to eye with the team's head coach.

Pique categorically denied this himself.

"When it comes to Josep Guardiola, I am ready to put my hand in the fire," the Catalan said at the press conference held on Monday. "I understand that there are people who still have doubts, but my relationship with the coach is great. Fantastic. We talk more than many can imagine."

The defender, who until recently was one of the main members of the starting lineup, now spends more time off the field, but Pique is not bothered by it.

"Sitting on the substitute's bench is new to me, but it is the coach's decision and I must respect it. Despite all the talk, I want J. Guardiola to continue leading the team. He loves the club and it is a job he enjoys," the "Barcelona" footballer believes.
