On Sunday, the A League debutant Vilnius football club "REO" will play against the local "Sūduva" in Marijampolė. The head coach of the Vilnius team, Stasys Baranauskas, is convinced that if his team maintains discipline and the youth does not fear the opponents, it will be possible to return home not empty-handed.
"Debutants have it tough. It will be difficult for us because this season we will play on grass for the first time, and we are going to compete with the leaders of the A League. When playing against them, we need to defend disciplinedly, patiently wait for our chance, and seize it," said S. Baranauskas.
According to the coach, the Pakruojis footballers have clearly shown that lower-ranked clubs in the tournament table can defeat "Sūduva".
"However, the previous LFF Cup match against "Ekranas" showed that our youth still lacks courage when playing against the leaders. We need to dispel that anxiety, and everything will be fine – we do not lack either technique or understanding of football," said S. Baranauskas.
According to the coach, team leaders Tomas Ražanauskas and Jevgenijus Morozas will be ready for the match, as they rested during the last game.
"We are going to fight and we hope for success," said S. Baranauskas.
The match will take place at 20:00 at the "Arvi" stadium in Marijampolė on Sunday.
