While preparing for the World Championship qualifying match against Bosnia in a training camp in Germany, the Lithuanian national team played a friendly match against the second Bundesliga team Kotbuso "Energie" and lost with a score of 1-2.

The Lithuanians started the game successfully and defender Marius Stankevičius scored a goal for their team in the 20th minute, but seven minutes later the home team's player Danielis Gunkelis equalized the score.

After halftime, national team coach Algimantas Liubinskas let the second team play and made 10 substitutions, leaving only Rolandas Džiaukštas on the field, while only Gytis Padimanskas and Irmantas Zelmikas did not rise from the bench.

In the second half, the rejuvenated national team lineup could not hold up against the opponents and in the 80th minute, the visitors' goalkeeper Mindaugas Malinauskas sent the ball into his own goal, deceived by Rayko Schröder.

The Lithuanians lost to the German team, but it was just a friendly match where the coaches wanted to test the players and work on tactical schemes. A total of 21 team members played in this match - apart from the two mentioned players who did not appear on the field, there was also Nerijus Barasa, who is recovering from an allergy and is expected to join the team later.
