On May 5th, in Pakruojis, the XI round of the "General Financing A League" took place, where two teams from Šiauliai County - FC "Šiauliai" and Pakruojo "Kruoja" met. It was the first "Kruoja" match at their stadium, however, the viewers were greatly disappointed by the impressive 4-0 victory of "Šiauliai", leaving no chances for the home team to fight even for a point.
After the match, the hero of the game, Artūras Rimkevičius, said: "Just fantastic. We did what we wanted and even more. A 4-0 victory against "Kruoja". It's great to win the derby with such a difference. We held off in the first half and in the second half "Kruoja" wanted to equalize, but we quickly scored goals, then we left the game a bit to them, waiting for counterattacks. A superb raid by Vėževičius guaranteed the victory. It's great to score a hat-trick, I hope it won't be the last one this season and I can be even more helpful to the team. I'm slowly regaining my playing form."
"I want to thank the team. The guys maintained playing discipline. They practically followed 100% of the tactical instructions. It was visible on the way to the match that the guys wanted to fight, and I want to thank them for that desire. I think the team is climbing out of that psychological pit. Mutual support and communication are emerging. That's a good sign.
In the first half, we played the start tactically very well. "Kruoja" is a very well-balanced team so the first half was tough. In the second half, we quickly scored a couple of goals and that helped the players relax and enjoy playing football. Very gradually, that joy returns to us, and that's very important because players should first of all enjoy playing football. This result was impossible to expect, we were focused, prepared, and it's very pleasant that we managed to achieve such a victory. Conversations with the players produced results in defense and we managed to keep a clean sheet. I told them that their mastery allows them to play better, to focus. Teamwork produced results. I hope this victory will not be the last." After their second victorious match, the new "Šiauliai" strategist Gedeminas Jarmalavičius spoke.
The assistant coach of "Kruoja" said: "It was one of those days when nothing goes right. "Šiauliai" once again excellently utilized set pieces, scoring the first two goals right after the corners. It is evident that with the arrival of a new coach, the team is very motivated and eager to play, which resulted in the victory. Of course, we will analyze the match and draw conclusions so that there won't be such results anymore."
