Coach Roberto Mancini did not rush to celebrate, even though his team was just one step away from the title of English champions.
On Sunday, Manchester City defeated the "Newcastle" team 2-0 away, who were fighting for a spot in the Champions League, and before the final round they are ahead of "Man Utd" by eight goals in goal difference.
"The battle is not over," said Mancini. "It is important that we also celebrate victory next week. We do not plan to change anything before the final match, because everything is in our hands.
"Yaya Toure's first goal was great, similar to the one he scored in the FA Cup final of last season. If we finish the season successfully, this strike will be even more important."
And he added: "Newcastle" is a great team, having a wonderful season, but we deserved the victory. We scored two goals, missed three or four more chances. However, the whole team played very well."
Meanwhile, Alan Pardew, managing Newcastle, admitted: "We understood that the first goal would decide everything. We failed to score, although we had chances. When we missed, we had to attack and open up spaces on our field.
"I am pleased with the game. It must be acknowledged that Manchester City looked amazing. When one world-class star can be replaced by another... That freshness of the players was the key to victory."
