Over the weekend, the 2012 Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) III League Kaunas County Championship started with six first-round matches. The teams considered favorites celebrated crushing victories at the start of the competition.
In an impressive victory in the first round match, defending champions Kaunas "Visas Labas" club secured the title by defeating Kaunas "Onikso" team with a score of 9:1. Andrius Rebždys scored four goals for the winners, while Deividas Stradalovas added two more.
Kaunas "Aleksotas" scored an incredible eleven goals against Raseiniai "Danspin", winning 11:0. Eight different players scored for the winners – Deividas Pašukevičius scored three times and Vidas Adomaitis scored twice.
An unexpected result was recorded in the opening match of the competition, where Kėdainiai "Nevėžio-2" team defeated last year's champions Kaunas "United" with a 2:1 score. However, the Kaunas team played with ten men from the 37th minute onwards.
Both Jurbarkas teams had an unsuccessful start to the competition. "Vulkanas" lost 1:5 at home to Kaunas "Celsio" team, with Audrius Kšanavičius and Tomas Januškutis each scoring twice for the winners. Meanwhile, "Mituva" lost 2:6 to Kaunas "Triobet" team, with Jaunius Mikalauskas scoring three goals for the hosts.
The central matches of the first round between the two temporary capital teams, "Hegelmann Litauen" and reviving "Kaunas", were hard-fought. Despite last week's friendly match being more favorable for Kaunas football community club, this time "Kaunas" had to settle for a draw and the two teams shared one point.
The KAFF Championship second round matches will be played on May 11-13.
