Even three clubs from the highest league of Italy - Bergamo's "Atalanta", "Novara" and "Siena" - are suspected of corruption and ties to criminal match-fixing activities.
The Italian Football Federation has identified a total of 22 teams whose potentially illegal actions will be investigated by law enforcement officials. Furthermore, the list of suspects includes 61 individuals and 33 matches.
"Atalanta" has already been penalized for similar suspicions at the beginning of the season, losing six points and having their team captain Cristiano Doni disqualified for three and a half years.
