Di Matteo defends criticized Terry © EuroFootball.com

London coach Roberto Di Matteo defends captain John Terry, who has been criticized for his poor athletic form.

In Tuesday's Premier League match against Liverpool, the England national team defender made mistakes and contributed to a crushing 1-4 defeat.

Nevertheless, Di Matteo said: "John is a wonderful footballer. He played in all the matches and was a true leader: dedicated, incredibly loving towards Chelsea. Without his contribution, we wouldn't have achieved so much."

Terry will not play in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich on May 19 due to disqualification. It is not yet clear if another central defensive duo, Gary Cahill and David Luiz, will help the team.
