In the Ukrainian championship for the third consecutive year, Donetsk's "Shakhtar" club triumphed, also winning the country's cup. In the last round, the Donetsk team crushed the relegated "Aleksandriya" 3-0, while the team from Kiev, "Dynamo", finished as the vice-champion and played to a 1-1 draw with "Tavriya".
"Shakhtar" secured automatic qualification to the group stage of the Champions League, while "Dynamo" will compete in the qualifying round. Kharkiv's "Metalist", Dnipro's "Dnipro", and Kiev's "Arsenal" qualified for the UEFA Europa League. Along with "Aleksandriya", "Obolon" was relegated to the lower league.
The most prolific goalscorer of the championship was "Shakhtar" striker Yevhen Seleznyov, who scored 14 goals.
It is worth noting that after the last match, one of the leaders, Jadson, left the champion team with tears in his eyes, returning to his native Brazil's "Sao Paulo" club.
