Vilnius football club "REO" returned to the legendary "Žalgiris" stadium with a bang. The residents of Vilnius defeated Gargždai's "Banga" 1:0 (0:0) on Friday evening and recorded their second victory in the Lithuanian A League championship.

"We made some changes in defense, made a couple of substitutions on time. I think this victory was deserved," said Viačeslavas Sukristovas, who led the newcomers of the A League after the match.

The Vilnius team played calmly on their home ground, controlled the ball, and defended confidently. Experienced Karolis Jasaitis was moved to the defense line, neutralizing several opponent attacks and initiating counterattacks.

The only goal was scored by Mindaugas Grigalevičius, sending the ball into the net of Banga's goalkeeper who had already blocked it.

Valdas Ivanauskas, a famous football specialist, made his debut as a consultant for "REO" in the match.

"It's nice to return to the legendary 'Žalgiris' stadium. An indescribable feeling. And it's especially nice to return with a victory," said V. Ivanauskas.

A week ago, vandals vandalized the "Žalgiris" stadium, forcing the "REO" to move their match against Alytus's "Dainava." However, during the match with the Gargždai footballers, no signs of vandalism were seen.

As a thank you to the employees of the "Žalgiris" stadium and especially Stasė Morkūnaitė, the leaders of "REO" dedicated the song "Mėlynakė Stasė" by the group "Poliarizuoti Stiklai" to her during the break.
