Club and the Netherlands national team defender Arjen Robben may miss the rest of the season due to injury. The 21-year-old footballer suffered a bruised injury yesterday during the World Cup qualifying match against Romania and left the field in the 22nd minute.

"Something is wrong with Robben's bruise," said Netherlands national team coach and former famous footballer Mark Van Basten. "His injury looks quite bad - he probably won't play against Armenia, and maybe even longer."

Just a few weeks ago, Robben returned to the field after recovering from two broken foot bones. However, the 15 minutes he spent on the field in the Premier League match against Crystal Palace could be the last this season wearing Chelsea shirts.

A.Robben's injury would be a big loss for the London club, which is currently trying to maintain a solid 11-point lead in the English championship and preparing for a crucial battle in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals against Bayern Munich. Since his arrival last summer for £12 million from the team, the young defender has become one of the leaders of the English club and has already scored 9 goals this season.

After more detailed examinations today, it was revealed that the footballer strained his Achilles tendon and will definitely not be able to play in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal against Bayern. He will also have to miss the Netherlands national team match against Armenia this Wednesday, as well as Chelsea's trip to Southampton on Saturday.

"It's hard to say how many weeks I won't be able to play, but it's clear that the injury is not very minor," the player said. "I will definitely miss the matches against Armenia and Bayern, and I'm starting to get frustrated because of these injuries."

In the near future, he will undergo further examinations, after which it should be clarified exactly how long A.Robben will be out of action.
