"Real Madrid defender Ivan Helguera wants to talk to Spain's national team head coach Luis Aragones and find out why he is not being called up to defend the honor of his country.

Helguera spoke out after Valencia defenders Carlos Marchena and David Navarro were ruled out of the Spain national team due to injuries, but the coach still did not invite Helguera, who has represented Spain 47 times throughout his career.

"I ask myself why I am not being called up, but I hope that this is not due to personal disagreements," the 30-year-old Helguera told the Spanish sports newspaper "AS." "When Marchena and Navarro were out of the line-up, I understood that the only real candidates to replace them were me and (Real defender) Francisco Pavon, but even then we were not invited."

"I want to talk to Luis (Aragones) and find out if I am not being called up due to personal reasons," explained the "Real" defender, who has not been called up to the Spain national team in the last three times.

Spain, who are in the same group in the qualifying competition for the 2006 World Cup in Germany, have an important match on Wednesday against the group leaders Serbia and Montenegro's footballers."
