After 11 months of work, Alex McLeish was relieved of his duties as Birmingham's head coach.

The team led by the 53-year-old specialist only finished 16th in the Premier League, and fans were not satisfied with the team's playing style.

"We are disappointed with the results, the game, and the message that reached our supporters," a statement from Aston Villa said. "Board members want to emphasize that the club expects and deserves more, so we will do everything to achieve that."

"Norwich" strategist Paul Lambert is considered the favorite to replace McLeish.
