Euro 2012: A place has opened up in the Dutch national team for an 18-year-old © EuroFootball.com

The list of candidates for the Netherlands national team has been shortened - 27 surnames remain, including three footballers who have not yet played in the national team.

Among them are 18-year-old left-back Jetro Willems from PSV Eindhoven, vying to replace the injured Erik Pieters in the starting lineup, "Alkmaar" defender Adam Maher and "Heerenveen" forward Luciano Narsingh.

It was somewhat unexpected that there was no place in the national team for Urby Emanuelson and Hedwiges Maduro, who have played respectively 14 and 18 matches.

The former world vice-champions will play in Group B with Denmark, Germany, and Portugal in the continental championship.
