Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes urged Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to sign a long-term contract with Roberto Di Matteo after losing the Champions League final in front of their own fans in London.
The German team lost to an English team after a penalty shoot-out 3-4.
"Congratulations to Chelsea on their victory," said the specialist. "If you want me to say something about Di Matteo, I encourage Chelsea to sign a three-year contract with him."
According to Heynckes, the blame for the failure lies solely with the Bayern players: "Chelsea played as we expected them to. Let's not focus on the penalty shootout. We have to blame ourselves - we created so many opportunities but couldn't take advantage of them. We need to understand that if we don't score goals, we will be punished, but we didn't manage to do that."
He did not blame Arjen Robben, who missed a crucial penalty in extra time and later did not participate in the shoot-out: "You can understand that failing to score a penalty in extra time affects self-confidence. It's obvious."
