The "Montpellier" fairy tale came true. The modest club, with its history, became the French champion for the first time when they defeated "Auxerre" 2:1 on Sunday.("Montpellier") and Nene ("Paris St Germain").

Just three seasons ago, the "Montpellier" club played in the second division of the French football championship, and the most famous victory was the league cup won in 1992.
"We are the champions of France!" - shouted the most productive player of "Montpellier" and the entire French championship, together with Nene (PSG), footballer Olivier Giroud (after scoring 21 goals), celebrating the triumph in the sea of fans.
"There are no words to describe this feeling. It is so strong," - celebrated "Montpellier" goalkeeper Geoffrey Jourdren. - It's incredible that a club that didn't plan to win anything before the season ended up becoming the French champion."
In the final round, the legendary Paris PSG club still had hopes of overtaking "Montpellier", but they were not saved by a 2:1 victory over "Lorient". PSG ended the season with 79 points, while "Montpellier" collected 3 points more.
The massive investment did not save PSG from the sensation of "Montpellier" - aiming to return to the elite, the Paris club spent more than 100 million euros on new players in the last season.
