Vilnius "Žalgiris" on Sunday in Marijampolė won the LFF Cup for the first time since 2003. The match ended goalless, and after an 11-meter penalty series, Damir Petravičius' players defeated the title defenders Panevėžys "Ekranas" and celebrated their first trophy of the season.
The main and extra time ended without goals, so the teams had to determine the winner in a penalty shootout, which will be remembered not only for the misses.
Television cameras captured several scandalous episodes - helpless security guards looking at the "Žalgiris" fans storming the pitch and one of the "Ekranas" leaders A. Kučys showing his disappointment to the capital team supporters with a finger gesture, expressing his frustration after a failed attempt to score an 11-meter penalty.
