After a successful liver transplant operation, Eric Abidal has been released from the hospital and will continue his treatment at home, Barcelona club officially announced on Monday.
The 32-year-old Frenchman was diagnosed with a liver tumor last year, which was removed, but it became clear in March of this year that the footballer would need a liver transplant operation.
The operation was performed on April 10, with Abidal's half-brother becoming the donor.
According to the statement from the Catalan team's medical staff, the player will continue the rehabilitation process at home, but will still regularly visit the Barcelona hospital for health check-ups.
At Abidal's request, Barcelona club asks to continue to respect his and his family's privacy.
