The cycle of success for the club that lost the title of the Spanish champion has ended, says the leader of Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Catalan team dominated Europe in recent years, but last season they lost both national trophies and the Champions League cup.
"I think the cycle has already changed. We defeated the "Barcelona" team at home, which is not easy to do. Also, we surpassed our opponents by nine points in the tournament table - that is a big advantage," said C. Ronaldo.
"The cycle has changed and I hope it will last long. The "Barcelona" team is amazing, but we are not any worse. We proved that at the moment we are stronger."
Portugal did not spare praises for the former "Barcelona" coach Pep Guardiola: "He did a wonderful job and won plenty of trophies by assembling a strong team. We should respect him for that."
