V. Liubšys: "The relationship between Suvalkija and Dzūkija is always complicated" © EuroFootball.com

On Friday, Marijampolė's "Sūduva" football players will try their strength against the local "Dainava" team in Alytus. Fksuduva.lt talked about the situation in the Marijampolė team with the head coach of the team Virginijus Liubšys.

The strategist stated that the longer break between matches was used for both rest and improving the game.

After a big marathon, we gave the players a few days off. Later, when we gathered, we worked and prepared for future matches. The longer break between matches was necessary to regain strength and polish the game. The team's psychological state was not completely good as well. Now we need to play these matches and then we will have another quite long break," V. Liubšys said.

Although "Sūduva" has not been able to achieve victories in recent rounds, V. Liubšys is satisfied with the team's performance in the matches against "Šiauliai" and "Žalgiris."

"I think we played the last two matches not badly. Both against "Šiauliai" and "Žalgiris" we were worthy of winning. We played well against Šiauliai, just failed to play well at the end of the match - we conceded two goals in three minutes. This happens once in 10 years. In the match against Žalgiris, we had an advantage in the first half but we couldn't score. In the second half of the match, we maybe lacked strength, however, in this match we managed not to concede a goal. We played well in both matches, but lacked sports luck. We hope to maintain a positive playing rhythm and continue. Very difficult matches await us in Alytus. Derbies between Suvalkija and Dzūkija are always challenging. The opponents are a very fighting team with several dangerous leaders," said the head coach of "Sūduva."

The coach did not have good news about Rafael Ledesma who got injured in the match against "Šiauliai."

"R. Ledesma's treatment should last for about three weeks. It's been 9 days already. We hope that the player will be able to play in the match on June 13."

"Sūduva" football players Tadas Eliošius and Valdemaras Borovskis were called up to the national Lithuanian team. V. Liubšys congratulated the players who received such recognition and stated that more players from "Sūduva" could have received the same attention.

"I'm happy for my team's players who were called up. Of course, a couple more players could have received invitations, but that's the coach's decision."
