Old continent teams started a friendly match cycle before the final stage of the European Championship.
Defending champion Spain secured a victory, defeating Serbia 2-0. The goals for the winners were scored by Adrian Lopez and Santi Cazorla from a penalty kick.
Things went much worse for the other favorite, Germany, who without Bayern Munich players lost 3-5 to Switzerland in dramatic matches.
The winners, who will not play in the European Championship, scored three goals, with Eren Dediyok, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Admir Mehmedi all finding the net. For the Germans, the goals were scored by Mats Hummels, Andre Schuerrle and Marco Reus.
Netherlands also stumbled, losing 1-2 to Bulgaria. The World Cup runners-up took the lead with a goal from Robin van Persie, but Ivelin Popov and Iliyan Mitsanski secured the victory for the visitors.
Fans of the Portuguese national team booed their team, who even with Cristiano Ronaldo could not defeat Macedonia - 0-0.
In their debut match, England managed to secure a 1-0 victory over Norway under the guidance of Roy Hodgson. The goal was scored by Manchester United winger Ashley Young.
At the same time, Poland defeated Slovakia by a minimal result of 1-0, and Ireland also won against Bosnia and Herzegovina, the future opponent of the Lithuanian national team in the World Cup qualifying tournament.
