Balotelli keeping himself as a genius: if someone throws a banana at me, I will kill them © EuroFootball.com

Italian national team striker Mario Balotelli says he will stop the match if he becomes a target of racial abuse during the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine. The footballer added that he would "kill" the person who threw a banana at him on the street.

"If we can't avoid racism, I will leave the field and go home," Balotelli said. "I cannot tolerate racism. We live in 2012, such a thing cannot exist."

He added: "If someone threw a banana at me on the street, I would have to go to jail because I would kill that person."

In an interview with "France Football," Balotelli was not shy to praise himself: "I think I am a genius, but not a troublemaker. I have my own life, my own world. I don't bother others, so I do what I want. I think I am smarter than the average person.

"The talent that God gave me is amazing and beautiful, but it's not easy because others constantly judge you. There are few talented individuals like me, so only they can objectively evaluate my game."
