Madrid strategist Jose Mourinho admits the decision to appoint Brendan Rodgers as the coach.

On Friday, the 'Reds' will sign a three-year contract with former "Swansea" manager, who has worked with Mourinho at London's "Chelsea" club.

"I am very happy with this appointment, especially because it is an appreciation of the excellent work in the 'Swansea' team," said Mourinho, who appointed Rodgers as youth coach in 2004 at Chelsea and later as the reserve team coach.

"Brendan is a good, family-oriented person, who I can call a friend. When he arrived at Chelsea, he was young and eager for knowledge. But at the same time, Rodgers was a coach with his own ideas, who not only listened but also communicated and shared information."
