After very unsuccessful matches with the Latvians, the head coach of the Lithuanian national team, Csaba Laszlo, stated that the team lacked aggressiveness, defender Tadas Kijanskas apologized to the fans, and goalkeeper Linas Pilibaitis considered that quick goals hit them hard.
Head coach of the Lithuanian national team, Csaba Laszlo:
"You can lose, but the result is too big. We ruined the good start we had in the game against Russia. We played too carelessly, lacked aggressiveness in fighting for the balls. I am very dissatisfied, but this is just one match. We need to continue working hard. We win together and lose together. Every player needs to think about their game.
We must win the next matches. We will have to show fight and work hard on the field in the upcoming matches. Today, we didn't have enough of that. Of course, we can talk about the referee, the penalty kick, and everything else. But looking at others won't give us anything, we need to look at ourselves first. Today we didn't play well and the result reflects that.
Defender of the Lithuanian national team, Tadas Kijanskas:
"On behalf of the whole team, I want to apologize to the fans and all spectators for the poor performance. There are no excuses because we didn't play against a powerful team. We just faced a well-organized opponent and lost. There can be no excuses. Two years ago, we proved that we can win the Baltic Cup. We lost by a big result.
There are 23 players in the national team. I believe the coach will review the lineup, evaluate the mistakes in defense. I think we will play with a completely different lineup against the Estonians and show a different game."
Captain of the Lithuanian national team, Linas Pilibaitis:
"We really didn't expect such a result. Maybe a quick goal hit us hard. We really tried, but the result didn't turn out the way we wanted. The opponents were better than us today. Now we need to focus on the next matches and win. Hopefully, we will learn from our mistakes and improve."
