The signature on the new contract given by Mats Hummels will keep him at Borussia Dortmund until the summer of 2017.
The 23-year-old footballer is currently preparing with the German national team for the upcoming European Championship, but he was given permission to return to Dortmund over the weekend to sort out formalities.
""When they asked me if I wanted to extend the contract, I immediately said that I want to stay in this team that wins trophies," said Hummels.
Already considered one of the best center-backs in Europe, the German moved to Borussia in 2008 from Bayern Munich. During this time, he has played 121 matches and scored 12 goals."
