The Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) will cooperate with one of the most powerful football associations in Europe, the German Football Association (DFB), in coach and referee qualification improvement programs, organizing friendly matches, and information technology.
Last week, LFF President Julius Kvedaras and the head of the national teams department Robertas Tautkus discussed cooperation with the German representatives. They were invited to attend the international friendly match between Germany and Israel on May 31 in Leipzig.
During the official meeting of the federations before the match, cooperation in various areas was discussed: coach and referee qualification improvement and exchange programs, organizing mutual friendly matches (from U-15 to national men's and women's teams), player internships at football academies.
"It is a great honor for us to have such a strong football partner. Cooperation with the DFB will bring benefits to players, coaches, and referees, as well as the entire football community," said LFF President Julius Kvedaras.
They also discussed a new player registration system called "Status IT," which is already being implemented and used in LFF activities. This project aims to register football teams, players, and other match participants in a digital system. It will help create a football database, facilitate the collection and presentation of official match statistics. The program will be used not only by LFF employees but also by clubs and referees in the country.
LFF President J. Kvedaras also invited the German national team to come to Lithuania for friendly matches. "It would be a big football celebration in our country. Germans did not reject this proposal and showed interest. The matches could take place between the qualifying cycle games," said the head of LFF.
The meeting with the Germans was also attended by the President of the Polish Football Association (PZPN), legendary footballer Grzegorz Lato. He expressed a strong desire to be friends with the Lithuanian Football Federation and the football of our country.
In April, LFF also agreed to cooperate with one of the largest regional football associations in Germany, Lower Saxony, where they plan to hold a training camp for the national team. Recently, ties have also been established with the Thuringia and Schleswig-Holstein regional federations.
