Legendary Peter Schmeichel predicts victory in the European Championship for the German national team.
Former Danish national team goalkeeper admits that the fight for the trophy could be one of the toughest in the tournament's history since 1960.
"There are several reasons why Germany will triumph," Schmeichel told Spox.com. "The most important thing is that the team has players from defense to offense like Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, and Mario Gomez. Having so many Bayern club members in the main lineup is a big advantage."
He also praised German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer: "Last season in the Champions League, he saved several penalties, including the crucial ones in the match against Real Madrid. This can only be done by a player who is mentally very strong."
He continued: "However, it should be added that this championship is shaping up to be one of the most difficult to predict and interesting in history. Every team is capable of reaching at least the quarterfinals."
The Germans will start the continental tournament on Saturday with a match against Portugal.
