Advocate: four earned goals in an international match - good result © EuroFootball.com

Russia's national team coach Dick Advocaat did not rush to celebrate after the first victory in the European Championship.

The Dutch coach's proteges crushed Czech Republic 4-1 and left a great impression on many experts.

"We are quite happy, we scored four goals, which is a good result in any international match," said Advocaat. "Yes, we could and should have scored even more, but we missed opportunities.

"Leading 2-0, we conceded a goal and made our situation more difficult, so we must not let that happen again. Against a stronger opponent, we can be punished. We need to be sharper, in some situations we gave the opponents too much space. But it was the first match, so we are satisfied with the result."

The coach praised forward Andrei Arshavin: "He worked hard and played superbly. He is a very important player for the team."

Meanwhile, Czech team's coach Michal Bilek admitted that lifting the players' fighting spirit after this defeat will not be easy.

"We couldn't handle Russia's midfield combinations, so the opponents created many chances," said the specialist. "We are very disappointed, but now we have to demonstrate our strength and team spirit.

"We can achieve victories, so we are looking forward to the next matches and the opportunity to bounce back."
