Rio Ferdinand believes he will never wear the England national team shirt again, as the new national team coach Roy Hodgson did not choose the 33-year-old veteran for the European Championship.
"I guess my time with the national team is over," Ferdinand told The Sun. "If I'm not called up now, especially when there are injuries to players in my position, it's not worth expecting in the future."
After the injury to Chelsea defender Gary Cahill, it was thought that Hodgson would include experienced Manchester United player, but instead decided to invite young Martin Kelly representing Liverpool. This decision, it is speculated, was made to avoid exacerbating Ferdinand's relationship with John Terry, who will stand trial next month for racially insulting Anton Ferdinand.
Rio Ferdinand has played 81 matches for the national team since 1997.
