Roberto Di Matteo should be confirmed as the coach of London this week.
Italian representatives have been negotiating with the club owner, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, in recent days and, according to the BBC, have reached an agreement on the contract.
The 41-year-old specialist has been leading the team since March of this year when he replaced the dismissed Portuguese Andre Villas-Boas. With him, the 'Blues' won the UEFA Champions League for the first time in history and also triumphed in the Football Association (FA) Cup.
Such results prompted Abramovich to give Di Matteo the opportunity to continue his work, although initially his candidacy was viewed skeptically in the context of Pep Guardiola and other coaches.
However, both parties have not yet agreed on the duration of the contract. It is speculated that a compromise will be reached this week when the strategist himself arrives in London: a long-term contract with the possibility of termination after this season.
